A week in Santa Teresa for surfers and everyone else

One shared villa, several different ideas of a perfect day. This suggested week gives both surfers and non-surfers room to enjoy themselves.

How can surfers and non-surfers enjoy the same trip?

Build the week around a few shared meals and let daytime plans differ. Surfers can arrange lessons or coaching, while others choose yoga, a wildlife outing or time at the villa. Keep a flexible day for changing conditions. Villa Raya offers four bedrooms for up to eight guests or five bedrooms for up to ten.

Choose a few things to share

A group surf holiday works better when surfing is an invitation rather than the price of joining the trip. Before arrival, ask everyone for one thing they would love to do and one kind of day they would prefer to avoid. Use the answers to choose a few shared meals and one or two outings.

The plan below is our suggested rhythm, not a packaged retreat. Activities need separate arrangements. Villa Raya offers a four-bedroom option for up to eight guests and a five-bedroom option for up to ten, so confirm the configuration that fits your group.

Days one and two: find your rhythm

Use arrival day for settling in, groceries and an easy dinner. Avoid making a surf lesson depend on a perfectly timed transfer. On the next full day, beginners can meet an instructor while others choose a relaxed breakfast or a yoga class. Share lunch when the morning plans are finished.

Santa Teresa's Pura Vida Surfers lists daily lessons; contact the school directly for suitable times. Non-surfers can use our yoga guide to investigate a class without committing to a full retreat.

Days three to five: alternate the pace

Make one day a nature outing, such as a prearranged visit to Cabo Blanco. Let the next be flexible: a coached surf session for some, time at the pool or a café for others. A shared sunset dinner gives everyone a natural point to reconnect.

For the fifth day, choose one larger activity only if the group wants it. Horseback riding, snorkeling and a forest walk create very different days. Vote for one, split into smaller groups or decide that the best choice is another day near the villa.

Days six and seven: leave something open

Keep the last full day available for a favorite activity, a rescheduled lesson or simply more time together. That breathing room is useful when weather has moved an earlier plan. It also prevents the final evening from becoming a rush through everything left on a list.

For departure day, allow time for equipment returns and transport. Agree on shared costs early in the week and settle them before packing. Our sunset dinner guide can help you choose a final meal, while the booking page explains the two Villa Raya bedroom options.
