Costa Rica’s official tourism board describes the broad dry season as mid-December through late April and the green season as May through mid-December. It also stresses that microclimates differ. Use those periods as a planning framework, not a weather forecast for a particular week in Santa Teresa.

Dry season: settle the essentials earlier

If your group can only travel during a school holiday, begin with the dates and sleeping arrangements. Then reserve the few meals or outings that matter most. The tourism board notes busy periods around year-end holidays, spring break and Holy Week.

For a villa stay, agreeing on the room option early can remove a lot of later coordination.
